Norte Maar’s Dance at Socrates

Movement Migration artist Blakeley White-McGuire and invited dancers will perform at Norte Maar’s 6th annual Dance at Socrates.
“Each Monday choreographers will begin their week-long residency in the park - encouraged to expand and develop their artistry in full view of the public. Visitors to the park enjoy not only the contemporary sculpture the park is well known for, but also cutting edge dance and movement in the making.” - Dance at Socrates

RESIDENCY WITH BLAKELEY
Company member Blakeley came to Charlotte for a 10 day residency as a Choreographer for a new work for Movement Migration. She created a new work to Charlotte Composer Leonard Mark Lewis's composition "Lullaby". Check out how her work came together!
Blakeley is a critically acclaimed, award winning dance performer, maker and teacher. She embodies the iconic lead roles of modern dance, most notably as Principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. Learn more about Blakeley!
MOMENTOUS: DANCING FOR CHOREOGRAPHERS

Movement Migration proudly suppports local our community. We were thrilled by the success of our first engagement, "Momentous," a student showcase hosted by Movement Migration. Artistic Director Kim Jones, was joined by three invited local choreographers: Troy Haywood, Brian Winn and Movement Migration company member, Dominique Willis. These artists created works for 10 UNC Charlotte Dance Majors and produced the show locally at Open Door Studios with a Q &A with artist and students.
