Bailando las Memorias del Sabor

In the summer of 2021, Movement Migration hosted a free, week-long dance workshop, Bailando las Memorias del Sabor, “Dancing The Memories of Taste,” celebrating LatinX culture and community. Learn more!

Artistic Director Kim Jones envisioned bridging traditional and social Latin Dance forms with modern dance. Thanks to the funding, in part, by the ASC Cultural Vision Grant, Movement Migration is offering a FREE week-long workshop at Open Door Studios (with a Zoom option) in Charlotte, NC that culminates with an end-of-week informal showing on Saturday, June 19. New York-based choreographer and Movement Migration artist Daniel Fetecua (Colombian) will create a new work, “Bailando las Memorias del Sabor” with assistant and UNC Charlotte alumna Nathalia Raigosa (Colombian). Charlotte-based artists Rodrigo (Chile) & Wendy (El Salvador) Jimenez of “RW Latin Dance” will also join the workshop to teach Latin Dance Forms.

This project was made possible, in part, with funding from the North Carolina Arts & Science Council. We’d also like to thank our in-kind sponsors Open Door Studios and RW Latin Dance for their generous donations.
